E-Commerce

Manpower's e-commerce strategy is based on our corporate vision: to lead in the creation and delivery of services that enable our clients to win in the changing world of work. Our customer and employee portals are designed to provide world-class technology to complement and support the services we deliver to our customers, candidates, and employees.

Through Manpower's comprehensive e-commerce program, we have been able to transform both the candidate and customer sides of our business from strictly bricks and mortar just a few years ago, to an efficient blend of bricks and clicks. This is no easy task when you consider the complexity of a business whose service is the procurement of human resources. There is no "one-size-fits-all" approach possible when the variety of languages, cultures and labor laws in each country is considered.

On the candidate side, we began in 1999 with our Global Learning Center, which allows all of our 30,000 permanent staff and 4 million temporary employees to enroll in online training courses to improve their skills and gain technical certifications that help them to qualify for better jobs. We now also have recruiting job boards, online skills assessments, and e-timeslips to track the employees' time when they are on the job. A variety of services and benefits are also available to enhance the quality of work life for our employees.

On the customer side, we have e-enabled transaction processes such as e-procurement of staff, workforce tracking to determine the status of candidate assignments, reporting on key performance metrics, as well as billing and settlement. None of our competitors can come close to matching the volume of business that is flowing through Manpower's e-commerce tools.

Our Web-based tools provide easy access to do business with Manpower or obtain information; any time, anywhere that our customers have a standard Internet connection. And, by automating temporary labor processes, customers also have access to audit trails that help them measure our performance and the performance of any other suppliers participating in the program in an objective manner. The transition to Web-based processes also provides streamlined communications, which can result in faster time to fill orders and more accurate invoicing.

Our latest innovation -- Direct Source -- is the first Web-based order management tool to offer the scalability and flexibility to adapt to the demands of both small businesses and multinational corporations, wherever they may reside around the globe. It is easily configurable to virtually any language, currency or business environment worldwide because it was built to meet global business requirements. By tailoring the tool to the unique requirements of your business, Direct Source offers unparalleled opportunities to streamline the order process and increase efficiency for you and your staff. And it's so easy to use; you can install and configure it without the assistance of an IT specialist.
