Helping the Under-Privileged Find Long-Lasting Employment

Throughout France, a number of companies are confronted with critical talent shortages. Yet thousands of educated young people from many of France's economically deprived areas find it difficult to secure employment.

Manpower France came up with a solution that helped both groups. In 2006, in cooperation with the French Ministry of Social Cohesion and the Foundation for Action to Combat Exclusion (FACE), Manpower launched the Job Academy in eight major cities throughout France. Located in Manpower's branch offices, the Academy develops the untapped skills of motivated applicants and provides individual counsel that helps candidates achieve long-lasting employment.

In 2006, the Job Academy helped connect 192 formerly unemployed young people with jobs. The success of the program has encouraged Manpower to expand the Academy concept to other cities throughout France.
