    Performs work on rail cars being processed through the Yonkers Facility and Commissioning Warranty Sites.  This includes repairs, modifications requested by their supervisor.
    The position entails working on rail cars in the final assembly process at the Yonkers facility or at a remote site.     The technician will perform test procedures on some the following systems: HVAC, Brakes, Propulsion, Communications systems, Toilet systems, Trainline systems, Sign systems, Automatic Train Control systems, general functional tests, 
    From time to time the Test technician will be required to assist and support the engineering group on various engineering tests.

    The test technician will interact directly with the customer on a regular basis and must have to ability to communicate clearly the intent and be confident in his or her assignment. The test technician will fill out all test documentation, reports and any other documentation required for the particular job assigned.

    The Field Technician will operate in many cases without direct supervision. He will be the lead in performing his tasks. The Field technician is not a novice position. He or She is required to take the lead in the assignment and guide the Function Test Technician or Rail Car Technician assigned with him. The Field Technician is to initiate the call for vendor, engineering, or manufacturing support first, then report to the supervisor the results or need for further assistance.

Provide programming and layout support for all automated equipment. Assure all manufacturing, automation, PLC, and CMM programs are backed up regularly.
    Requirements:
      High school diploma or equivalency (GED). Formal I & E education via trade / vocational school, military, or other industrial-electrical certification or equivalent work experience. Minimum 2 years work experience in electrical and instrumentation position. Candidates must pass an assessment and oral interview to proceed in the process. Working knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems along with PLC controls and programming.  Experience with HMIs and VFDs.  Knowledge of electrical circuits from 24vdc to 480vac. Ability to develop programs and select proper tooling where applicable. Ability to program lasers, CNC, PLC, and automated control systems and devices. Extensive AutoCAD or equivalent experience.

    The Role:

      Develop and co-ordinate plant and equipment layout improvements, process improvements, die changes, and first off improvements. Assist in developing and maintaining standard costs for all products. Research and pursue opportunities for improvement in the operation to increase organization competitiveness. This includes process cost reductions and implementation of corrective actions to minimize process downtimes and rejects.
    You Bring:
      Completion of a college diploma or university degree in an engineering discipline. Mechanical engineering is preferred. Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role in manufacturing (automotive preferred) Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems. Good Technical Report writing abilities. Proficient in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CAD
