    Job Summary:

    This position must have proven ability to prioritize, plan and execute multiple projects independently and must perform function to provide:

    Instrumentation and automation engineering and technical support, management and execution of small to large projects/assignments from initial concept to final closeout.

    Oversee maintenance of automation systems.

    Serve as project manager on small to medium size capital projects

    This position will initiate deviations, change controls, or Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA), conduct investigations, communicate findings, and provide solutions to cross functional teams while meeting commitment and due dates.

    This position will communicate findings, system status, or project status verbally or in writing while creating mitigating actions to ensure reliability of equipment.

    This position will monitor, repair and troubleshoot automation systems and provide technical support to other technical leaders and technicians.

    Description:

    Direct or support concurrent automation engineering projects both technical and project management aspects for capital and operational projects while ensuring their success in meeting their respective objectives.

    Technical aspects include Instrumentation design and maintenance oversight, plant level automation hardware and software support and implementation, Fieldbus design and maintenance oversight Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Data Historian and system oversight.

    Project Management aspects include scope definition, scope adherence, stakeholder concurrence, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, procurement and installation support, including coordinating the activities of contract engineers and trade contractors during system modifications/additions.

    Support Validation with the planning and execution of commissioning and validation protocols.

    Support CAPA, Change Control, Deviation, Risk Analysis, Root Cause Analysis and other Quality Systems.

    Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, other procedures, and support components (spare parts etc) for installed systems.

    Support and comply with engineering standards, drawing controls, project controls and other procedures and standards necessary for the successful operation of the department as well as the creation and maintenance of the same.


    Requirements:

    Bachelors Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline) or Bachelor of Science degree in another engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible instrumentation/automation development, construction, and maintenance activities or; Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum of 8 years of progressively years of progressively responsible instrumentation/automation development, construction, and maintenance activities.

    Minimum 2 years hands on experience with instrumentation and controls equipment including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and networking equipment.

    Have strong automation engineering skills and ability.

    Have Fieldbus configuration and management experience with Profibus being preferred or be able to obtain the same.

    Experience with Unicorn, Wonderware, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk, Rockwell Automation RSLogix, Siemens Apogee, Open Process Control (OPC) preferable.

    Experience with qualifiable MES systems, such as OSI Pi preferable.

    The Embedded Software Engineer will be a lead architect and developer to build efficient, high quality, and reliable real-time controls products for Organization. The Embedded Software Engineer will utilize state-of-the-art software development processes and tools, including model-based design, to create software systems.



    This position will be primarily focused on embedded controls design, implementation, integration, and verification, specifically the design and implementation of real-time applications and control logic that governs the functioning of a refrigeration unit, as well as communicating with the outside world via display user interfaces and in other forms (IoT devices, Apps, flash drives).



    Specific responsibilities will be:

    * Lead the architecting and development of complex embedded software solutions by applying model-based design (MBD) principles and tools
    * Participate in overall system level and component level software architecture design and documentation
    * Strongly drive the application of agile software lifecycle management, participate in the sprint and release planning activities, sizing of work tasks
    * Design, implement, verify and deliver software component, modules, and systems using either model-based or traditional coding
    * Contribute to improving software development workflows, toolchain, and management including emulation and simulation technologies and unit test automation
    * Prototype and build proof of concepts for new control functionalities and technology demonstrators



    Education



    B.S. degree in Electrical/Computer/Mechanical Engineering with 5-7 years of experience in software engineering and embedded systems.

    M.S. degree in Electrical/Computer/Mechanical Engineering with over 3-5 years of experience in software engineering and embedded systems.



    Required Skills

    * Provide technical leadership to a group of embedded software engineers providing direction for disciplined software development
    * Strong C++ and C programming skills for embedded systems applications
    * Development of real-time applications with use of RTOS, including Embedded Linux
    * Architect embedded controls solutions and design of embedded software modules as part of an overall architecture
    * Formulation and execution of unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting
    * Experience with model-based design tools and methods including software modeling, Simulink/Stateflow, Rhapsody, UML, autocode generation tools, simulation, and emulation tools (SIL)

    Desired Skills:

    Responsibilities:

    * Design, debug, troubleshoot complex electronic circuits and ensure reliability based on calculations and validation of designs in the lab.
    * Write software modules to validate and verify capabilities of the hardware you designed.
    * Collaborate with other engineers and contribute to the success of the product in a team environment, an individual contributor focusing on the success of the team.
    * Apply statistical methods and perform product / process analysis of quality improvements and cost reductions.
    * Support product failure investigations via rigorous and thorough root cause analysis of issues followed by implementing containment and corrective actions.
    * Create, maintain, organize, and release under formal documentation control various engineering artifacts including schematics, assembly drawings, PCBA layout, test directives and bills of materials.
    * Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering team to coordinate engineering changes through deviations, ECN's, and CAR's process.

    Minimum Qualifications

    * B.S. or M.S. in electrical, electronic, mechatronics, computer engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of product development experience.
    * Must be able to understand and conduct fundamental electrical troubleshooting task on systems, subsystems, components, power supplies, filters, motors, and other electromechanical components with proficient knowledge of digital and analog circuit design and analysis.
    * Must be proficient with test and measurement tools (Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Multimeter, soldering iron, basic hand, and power tools, etc.).
    * Must be able to develop software embedded system driver level modules using assembly, C, C++, or C#.
    * Must be able to perform documentation functions in new product development and production support including release of engineering artifacts including bill of materials, schematics, assembly drawings where documentation control and manufacturing process knowledge is essential.
    * Must be able to perform technical writing in support of design inputs, design outputs, qualification activities, regulatory requirements, and related pursuits.
    * Must be proficient with circuit design, development, and debugging tools (Cadence, Altium, SPICE, Xilinx/ISE Design Tools, or similar.).
    * Must be able to understand and contribute to DFMEA, FMEA, engineering drawings, and other engineering documentation.
    * Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    * 5+ years of product development experience with high volume electronic products, greater than 10K units per year.
    * Experience with robust disciplined quality approaches such as Six Sigma, LEAN, ISO-9001
    * Experience with HVAC Control design a plus.
    * Experience in automotive design a plus.
    * Knowledge of quality control principles, business processes, and PLM / PDM principles.
    * Experience with statistical analysis of complex data sets and design of experiments (DOE).
    * Project Management working experience to effectively provide technical guidance to keep project on time, on budget and quality levels. PMP Certification or similar disciplined development paradigm.
    * Exposure or experience with Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
