Schedule:  Monday - Thursday, 6:45am - 5:15pm

What’s the Job?

Responsible for care and maintenance of all assigned material and equipment.  Start up, operation and shut down of equipment Assist with construction, repair, and maintenance of dies and other equipment.  Maintain proper machine control setting. Performance of household duties (i.e., cleaning). Responsible for knowing and applying all company polices and quality standards.  Other duties as assigned. 

 What’s Needed?

Above average mathematic skills to include converting measurements to and from metric standards.  Strong reading/comprehension skills. Ability to read, comprehend, and consistently follow standardized procedures. Requires good writing skills to record accurate and legible information.  Experience operating mechanical, pneumatic and electrical machinery in a manufacturing environment preferred.   Requires machine tool set-up, ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve problems. Requires use of CAD computer, ability to read blueprints, and precision work.  High School diploma or GED required.  Vocational/technical training certification is preferred, and a two-year degree is desirable.

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Etobicoke, Ontario
Pay Range: $33.50-42.00/hour

What’s the Job?

Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls
Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
Operate machine tools such as lathes and mill machines to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery
Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
Troubleshooting/repairs/installations of processing equipment with a working knowledge of electrical to allow efficient repair/replacement results
Extensive mechanical knowledge including power transmission, pneumatics and hydraulics
Optimize equipment safety, efficiency and reliability, participating in continuous improvement projects and completing work orders according to PM schedules
Continually improve equipment function via design improvements

What’s Needed?
2-5 years' industrial mechanical experience, preferably in the food industry.
Proven track record working with mechanics, machine shop practices, pneumatic & hydraulic fields is required.
Problem solving skills and good communication skills are required.
Comfortable using computers
Ability to work well within a team and independently
Comfortable with occasional heavy lifting up to 50 lbs
You really enjoy working in a fast paced environment where every day can bring new and unique challenges
Ability to work a flexible shift day/afternoon/night, Sunday to Saturday, and holidays.
Willing to obtain Red Seal Millwright License - Industrial Millwright 433A

The Role:

Programming and troubleshooting PLCs (Allen Bradley, TI, and Schneider Modicon) with a focus on troubleshooting unplanned Down Time events, debugging, repairing, improving, installing of new or modified production and test equipment from the perspective of electrical, mechanical and vision systems.
• Lead a team from project design to installation.
• Modify older machine controls to meet modern day code requirements.
• Experience using ABB Robots in a manufacturing environment.
• Continuous Improvement Initiatives improving existing methods, systems and looking for better ways of approaching a problem.
• Very good understanding of electrical drawing packages
• Prepare technical documentation, user and maintenance manuals, setup procedures etc.
