    What you can expect
    Specialists perform various operations using specialized equipment to produce a wide range of high-quality pharmaceutical products. Manufacturing Specialists must adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices ("cGMP"), thus accuracy and attention to detail are critical in this role. A strong mechanical aptitude is also required, as Specialists may disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble their own equipment.
    Position Responsibilities
    * Follow written instructions contained in Standard Operating Procedures, manufacturing orders, cleaning checklists, and other controlled documents in accordance with cGMP regulations.
    * Operate computer-controlled equipment utilizing a screen-based Operator Interface Terminal (OIT).
    * Operate various instruments including calipers, balance scales, and hardness testers.
    * Handle in-process raw and intermediate materials, to include charge-in of ingredients, mixing and transfer of in-process batches or components.
    * Physically move bulk materials utilizing various forms of Power Industrial Equipment including drum dumpers, straddle stackers, pallet jacks and forklifts. Basic material handling and departmental utility tasks may also be assigned.
    * Evaluate test results against prescribed parameters to determine if tested product is within specification.
    * Accurately, repeatedly, and contemporaneously document GMP data on equipment logs, batch records and cleaning checklists.
    * Execute equipment and manufacturing suite cleaning tasks utilizing manual and automated processes and prescribed cleaning checklists, to include confined space entry.Perform minor equipment servicing activities including disassembly, reassembly, and set-up.
    Required
    * A High School diploma (or G.E.D.).
    * Basic math and English communication skills, legible penmanship, and a high level of reading comprehension.
    * A working knowledge of computers.
    * Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.
    * Ability to work 40 hours per week and be available for overtime when necessary.
    * Available for training on various shifts.
    * Must have the ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
    * All Specialists must be able to stand for approximately 85% of their total shift.

Performs root-cause analysis and identifies appropriate, effective corrective and preventive actions. Implements corrective and preventive actions in conjunction with other enabling groups (i.e. Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Validation, EHS).
    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
    Requirement: Education and Experience: BS/BA in related field (engineering, chemistry, pharmaceutical science, etc…), and 2-5 years related experience; MS/MA in related field and 2+ years related experience; or PhD in related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Strong organizational skills and flexibility in handling a variety of assignments.

    Pharmaceutical Construction Safety Project experience
    7-10+ years of Commissioning Safety/Start-Up Program Management Experience


    Role and Responsibilities:
    1. Active member of the Global Capital Project Safety Leadership Team with overall responsibility for safety on all US Capital Projects $50 million or more, providing direction and leadership to the project teams.
    2. Chair the US Capital Projects Safety council and have regular meeting / sharing of information with the team (suggest monthly)
    3. Drive the execution of the safety program from Conceptual Design thru Basis of Design, Detailed design, Commissioning and Operations
    4. Work with Project Leadership teams to mentor, coach and help them implement the new Capital Projects Visual Safety Standards program.
    5. Provide monthly project safety report to the Capital Projects Leadership Team.
    6. Conduct customer facing talks, project audits, training and presentations.
    7. Conduct wrap-up audit findings meetings with the Project Leadership Team before leaving the site and ensure there is a mechanism in place to track to closure any outstanding action items stemming from the audit.
    8. Travel in the US to all our major capital projects on a monthly basis (approximately 50% of your work time will be travel) Typically we have 4-5 projects in execution over $50 Million at any given time.
    9. Be fully involved in all project serious incidents / near-miss investigations and ensure the Method 1: Five-why investigative tool is used to its full potential to get to true root cause.
    10. Become a certified Method 1 five why SME and trainer (an interactive interrogative technique used to explore cause-and-effect relationships underlying a particular problem) and conduct formal training with each Capital Project Construction Management Team member.

    Qualifications and Experience:
    12. Third level degree in a safety or engineering discipline and a Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certified or an equivalent.
    13. Minimum 10 years' experience in relevant industry e.g. pharmaceutical, oil and gas capital projects industry.
    14. Have a strong safety program aptitude, experience and technical experience.
    15. Must be flexible, adaptable, resilient and open to change.
    16. Have good communications skills, both written and verbal.
    17. Be proficient in Microsoft Office software, especially on Word, Excel and Power-point.
