Job Description

Title: APPLICATIONS ENGINEER III

Reports to: Applications Manager

Travel: 25 - 50%

* Perform application engineering work and set priorities with knowledge of company goals

* Perform project management duties for the team as needed

* Design and fabricate fixtures/ work holding for demo's, test cuts, and turnkeys

* Engineer, execute and trouble shoot complex manufacturing and machining processes utilizing DMG MORI processes, systems and knowledge centers

* Manage complex and cross departmental engineering projects to ensure all customer deliverables are met

* Conduct time estimates for customer parts with 10% tolerance

* Use CAPPS conversational programming, industry standard CAM systems, and direct G-Code/ Macro programming to generate CNC programs for parts processing

* Setup CNC machines with program, tooling, workpiece, and fixtures including 5-axis and mill-turn

* Inspection of finished parts for quality and accuracy

* Generate engineering proposals for process and turnkey applications including automation and high production environments

* Generate p documentation

* Develop specification compliance reports with factories for specific customer applications

* Setup and program a CMM (coordinate measuring machine)

* Generate order intake actively consulting customers on their technical needs together with ASM

* Perform lost order analysis

* Train customers on equipment after installation

* Mentor junior engineering colleagues

Requirements:

* BS Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred, and/or machining knowledge

* 8+ years related experience

* Knowledge in part processing, metal cutting, CNC programming, reading drawings, and machine setup

* Basic understanding of Metallurgy

* Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment while meeting deadlines

* Proven experience to communicate professionally with internal and external customers

* Proven flexibility with shifting priorities

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

* Proven organizational skills, with high attention to detail

* Strong analytical/problem solving abilities

Work Environment:

Exposure to manufacturing/machining environments which may present possible hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery. General office environment experienced at DMG MORI office.

Physical Demands:

Frequent: Travel, operating a vehicle, standing, walking, bending, squatting, stooping, sitting and reaching. Pushing, pulling, and lifting objects. Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.

Periodic: Operating power equipment, sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones.

Occasional: Lifting or moving up to 50lbs.
