Job Description

SUMMARY: Assists in purchasing materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information.





ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Review and processes purchasing requests for goods or services to ensure compliance with purchasing procedures and user requirements.

* Prepare request for quotation, supporting spreadsheets, comparisons, recommendations, and justifications; obtains telephone quotes when indicated.

* Interact with suppliers and internal customers regarding order status.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree and 2-5 years of related experience required or a combination of equivalent experience and education.

Possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP Systems.

An APICS certification is preferred.



Must be Action Oriented, Functional/Technical Skills, Negotiating, Perseverance, Drive for results



LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical and quality procedures, or legal documents and government / regulatory compliance regulations. Possess the ability to write technical documentation and reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.





PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and use their hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
