Job Description

Summary



Responsible for producing machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintains machinery daily to ensure functionality



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Utilize Engineers program data via storage device installed into the CNC that programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs

* Set-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads

* Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by mechanical drawings etc.

* Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position

* Prepare a test run to check if the machine produces outputs according to specifications

* Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards

* Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting controls; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes

* Adhere to all quality standards and safety procedures, recognizing unsafe situations and taking appropriate action to ensure safety of themselves and others in building

* Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs

* Maintain continuity among work shifts by filling out Incident Reports to communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs

* Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality

* Operate a forklift to pick materials for projects to be cut on the CNC

* Operate a forklift to load and unload materials and components onto and from trucks
