Manpower Engineering is seeking a Chemical Technician I for a long term contract opportunity. This role is in quality department at the Freeport lab. This Chemical Technician will analyze batches and work closely with the operations staff to troubleshoot and identify resolution if the samples are not up to quality. Summary:

The main function of a chemical technician is to conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials.

Shift: This is a 12-hour rotating shift position that follows the DuPont schedule



Job Responsibilities:

* Monitor product quality to ensure compliance to standards and specifications. Promptly performs reports and records for all Quality Control procedures and test results in a precise and accurate manner.

* Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, physical and chemical and separation techniques. Operation of instrumentation such as densitometer, NMR, ICP, GC, GPC, FTIR and auto-titrator. Analyze environmental samples for TOC, pH and COD.

* Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials.

* Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses. Calculate and recommend batch adjustments to Production

* Provide technical support and assistance to chemists and engineers.

*Prepares lab standard test reagents and performs standardization on reagents and calibration of equipment on a regular basis. Keeps detailed records and maintains control and/or trend charts

*Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work environment, including laboratory instruments and equipment, to assure smooth operation of the QA Laboratory by communication, planning and preparation in support of other shifts.

* Write technical reports or prepare graphs and charts to document experimental results.

* Maintenance inventory status of reagents, equipment, supplies, etc. to keep the lab at full operational capacity

* Reports promptly all problems regarding procedures, equipment, products, raw materials, specifications, etc., to the QC Supervisor or designate, as well as other QC Chemists





Skills:

* Basic knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo.

* Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

*Basic ability to work independently and manage one's time.

* Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.



Education/Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, or similar required

* 0-2 years experience required.
