Job Description
* Construction Manager
The Construction Manager is responsible for the onsite day to day operations and work execution. They provide administrative and technical management of all field related personnel, contractors, and work activities on a construction project site.
* Direct, coordinate and supervise on-site construction team.
* Responsible for all construction activity that occurs on the project site, including project reporting, contractor management, contract compliance, client interfaces, client relations, engineering interfaces, and delivering the project within the approved project schedule completion date.
* Interface with client representatives, municipal authorities, and other contractors as necessary to execute the project.
* Support scheduling (updates), engineering, commercial management, and field staff.
* Encourage and demonstrate a commitment to generating a positive safety culture.
* Supervise and direct overall construction effort to verify project is sequenced and constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule requirements.
* Responsible for contractual performance of contractors.
* Enforce compliance with project procedures, work rules and client requirements.
* Develop and foster effective client and contractor relationships.
* Coordinate and communicate with the Engineering Manager and Discipline Engineers to resolve field engineering items.
* Collaborate with the project team to develop and implement execution procedures.
* Verify contractor monthly progress and validate payment applications are in accordance with monthly progress.
* Review and recommend to owner approval or rejection of contractor payment applications.
* Provide technical assistance, interpretation of drawings, and recommendation of construction methods and equipment installation.
* Complete weekly progress reports to communicate construction progress, achievements, and issues.
* Review all contractor field reports.
* Assess future work activities and identify any concerns with work plans by utilizing 3-week look-ahead reports and the overall project schedule.
* Utilize project schedule to evaluate critical path activities and progress deficiencies and provide recommendations for implementing corrective actions as required.
* Interface with client representatives, municipal authorities, and other contractors as necessary to execute projects.
* Coordinate and communicate with the Engineering Manager to resolve field engineering items.
* Oversee the final construction documentation turnover process to clients. This includes construction turnover to clients or internal startup and commissioning teams.
* Coordinate PSSR support, tie-ins, electrical outages with owner's site representatives.
* Validate routing of technical documents between contractors, BMcD, and owner.
* Manage the project action item list for results and resolution.
