Job Description



Visibly and substantially support the Messer Safety Culture through proactive engagement and by making safety a part of every decision.

Integrate safe design concepts in all products and projects.

Develop and implement control systems

Develop and maintain knowledge and experience in recent PLC technologies and best practices.

Maintain technical drawing and bill of material library.

Design panels and systems that are easy to maintain and safe to operate

Assist in the design, specification, acceptance tests, and startup of chemical and industrial gas manufacturing systems.

Under the direction of the engineering controls team, troubleshoot programs, instrumentation/wiring and produce drawings, bills of material for design packages.

Participate in Design Review, Process Hazard Analysis and Engineering Management Of Change meetings as needed.

Support continuous improvement within the design group - e.g. development of standards, engineering tools, etc.

Design with an emphasis to industrial gas applications

Strong hands-on skills, ability to trouble shoot applications equipment

Knowledge of design tools including AutoCAD, TIA Portal, RSlogix 500, Rslogix 5000, Studio 5000, and Factorytalk ME.

Knowledge of logic diagrams, functional descriptions, P&ID diagrams, and interlock diagrams.

Ability to do basic engineering calculations and use tools

A working knowledge of international codes/directives

Strong organizational skills

Required qualifications/experience

Bachelors or technical degree (Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred)

Strong communications skills (foreign languages a plus)

Report or technical writing skills

Min. 2 years experience in industrial control systems (Allen Bradley and Siemens)

Experience in computer systems, networking and industrial equipment is a plus

Experience in supporting instrumentation to include transmitters, RTDs, valves, switches, solenoids and analyzers.
