Job Description

Job Summary:

This is a position in the downstream process development group involving the planning and execution of purification pilot/scale up and lab-scale confirmation runs for biological therapeutics using chromatography, precipitation, and filtration methods.

Responsibilities include:

* Use of AKTA chromatography systems with Unicorn 7 software

* Use of pumps for normal and tangential flow filtration operations

* Use of pH and conductivity meters

* Buffer preparation

* Chromatography column packing

* Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

* Assist in the evaluation, development and implementation of new downstream technologies leading to process improvements and efficiency of operation.

* Ordering raw materials and consumables

* Technical report writing

* Lab work at small scale and larger pilot scales

* Identify and effectively manage scale-up risk

* Identify and implement continuous operation improvement ideas

* Execute the process with low bioburden risk and great attention to detail

Qualifications and Experience:

●B.S. in biochemistry, chemical engineering or related area with 2 - 5 years experience or M.S. with 0 - 2 years experience.

●Skilled in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

●Experience with purification process development preferred.

●Experience with pilot or manufacturing scale downstream processing preferred.

●Excellent customer service skills and the ability to meet strict client deadlines.

●Capability to lift 30 pounds or higher weight.

●Flexibility of hours to support downstream process requirements, as needed.
