Position Summary:
Large Energy Infrastructure company is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Houston. Individual will assist with the design, selection, and installation of medium and low voltage power systems used in operation of natural gas and liquids pipeline systems.
Main Responsibilities:
* Design, selection, and implementation of medium/low voltage power systems used in the operation of natural gas and liquids pipeline systems.
* Review, recommend and evaluate the design, installation, and operations of both medium and low voltage electrical systems to ensure compliance with NEC requirements while evaluating them for the optimization of efficient, safe and economical operation.
* This position is expected to review design/construction drawings.
* Support Operations personnel in maintenance work and troubleshooting of electrical issues.
* Accountable for completing tasks with quality, compliance with applicable codes/standards, and on schedule.
* Effectively interface and integrate with other Company departments including Project Management, Procurement, Engineering, Business Development, and Operations to maintain the integrity of the Company's infrastructure.
* Represent the Company in area of expertise with customers, suppliers, licensees, third party engineering firms, outside consultants, and industry associations.
* Interface with other technical/engineering disciplines to ensure the effective integration of electrical systems with the overall product design.
* Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work while supporting the department and Project Manager with delivery.
* Assist with the commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical equipment and systems.
Key Competencies:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university is required.
* A minimum of 2-5 years of experience with the electrical design of heavy industrial facilities. 5 preferred.
* Experience and knowledge in design, selection and requirements of medium voltage switchgear, medium voltage motors, variable frequency drives, low voltage MCC's, UPS systems, and AC power generators.
* Experience with performing an arc flash hazard assessment and reviewing third party arc flash assessments.
* Experience with ETAP software to generate models, reports, and recommendations.
* Create medium and low voltage wiring schematics and associated Bill of Materials for wiring, cables, and controls.
* Create technical specifications, Engineering Standards, Construction Standards, and O&M Standards.
* Ability to initiate and plan the design of lighting systems, power distribution systems, motor control circuits, grounding, motor drives, and secondary systems (fire and gas alarm, dc circuits, etc.)
* Should be familiar with general substation design practices
* Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards such as IEC, ISA, NEC, IEEE, etc.
* S. Citizenship or Green card required.
* Travel is required (~25%)
