Job Description
Develop product test systems and perform validation testing supporting the Engineering Test Lab and Product Engineering Teams in the development, testing, and/or modification of prototype or production parts.
The Senior Electrical Technician is a subject matter expert in test systems, specific test methodologies, and product knowledge including familiarity with test specifications. This role employs subject matter expertise to provide mentorship for lab technicians.
Responsibilities:
* Plan, coordinate, and perform validation testing (using internal and external resources). Mentor lab technicians in methods and procedures. Typical tests include but not limited to durability, temperature cycling, vibration, and NVH
* Construct test harnesses and circuits for product tests. Develop and set up fixturing. Mount, instrument and connect parts for testing. Develop and program test control and data acquisition systems.
* Collect, summarize, and analyze data. Create test reports (including creating and enhancing report formats) and other technical documents as needed
* Ensure that samples are tested to required standards and specifications This includes both R&D and validation testing, analysis, and reporting
* Work with cross functional teams in the Engineering Test Lab and Engineering Teams (Product & R&D) to design, fabricate, assemble, and verify electro mechanical fixtures for products with new features and new test methodologies. Develop clear documentation, train lab technicians in new procedures.
* Determine test requirements from specifications and product applications, develop and execute test accordingly.
* Build and test prototype electromechanical and electronic products as specified in schematics/blueprints.
* Conduct Electrical testing per customer specifications. Must be proficient with oscilloscopes.
Requirements:
* 5+ years of testing related experience
* Associates degree in a technical field, or equivalent. BS preferred but not required.
* Experience in test laboratory environment, including use of electronic instruments (meters, oscilloscopes, function generators, data acquisition units, etc.) and dimensional measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.)
* Strong electro-mechanical aptitude.
* Ability to multitask. Position requires the job holder to conduct tasks in parallel.
* Good communication skills (written & verbal). Ability to present technical information to customer engineering. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint applications.
* Ability to give coordinate and work with team members to accomplish goals.
* Ability to troubleshoot problems with test systems and provide resolutions.
