Job Summary

The Opto-Mechanical Technician is responsible for assembly and testing of optical and/or mechanical components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Line Responsibilities:



Mechanical assembly, optical alignment, and soldering of optical head assemblies in accordance with written procedures and drawings.



* Edit travelers, test data sheets, and tracking documentation.

* Perform testing using temperature chambers, shaker tables, and another environmental test equipment as required.

* Under the direction of engineers, perform complex testing tasks including measurement using various optical sources, wavelength meters, polarization measurement equipment, optical power meters, voltmeters, and return loss equipment.

* Edit troubleshooting logs.

* Set up and maintain alignment station equipment, soldering irons, rework equipment, fusion splicers.

* Organize and keep tidy assembly stations and test stations.

* Suggest corrections to assembly procedures, test procedures, and other manufacturing and engineering documentation.

* Support other product lines by doing fusion splicing on systems and components.

* Testing and assembly for the electronic line and mechanical line.

* Support R&D with special project assembly and test.

* Support good health and safety practices and other departments as required

* Other duties as assigned by Management



EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High School required; 2-year technical degree highly desirable.



EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.



SKILLS REQUIRED:



* Computer literate, able to use Microsoft Word and Excel.

* Experienced in small optomechanical fabrication, optical alignment, hand soldering, rework, fusion splicing, and operation of basic optical test equipment. Able to read procedures, mechanical drawings, and system diagrams.

* Must be a good team member with a positive attitude and cheerful disposition.

* Good English language skills, written and spoken, are required. Mandarin language skills helpful.

* Should be comfortable working under pressure to tight deadlines on a daily basis.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Approximately 90% of the work is performed on the manufacturing production floor.
