Job Description

Do you want to have an impact on the world's energy future? Our client is a leader in the new energy economy and is looking for a talented Research and Development Engineer who can identify meaningful opportunities, develop new technologies, and deliver them to the marketplace.



As a Research and Development Engineer, you will bring demonstrated hands-on expertise in the specification, installation, programming and commissioning of instrumentation and data acquisition systems to support field demonstration activities. You will also perform R&D functions including technical assessments of emerging technologies.



Primary Responsibilities





* Support project teams as the subject matter expert in specifying, procuring, installing, and commissioning instrumentation and data acquisition systems to monitor technology performance

* Identify and assess new M&V technologies or best practices that improve accuracy or reduce costs

* Actively monitor data collected to identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions

* Work effectively with project teams, manufacturers, contractors, and end users at field sites while meeting project time lines within budget

* Demonstrate technical expertise with strong written and presentation skills; document M&V guidance and best practices for internal staff as needed

* Execute field and laboratory test procedures while complying with all safety protocols

* Coordinate effectively with in-house contracting, purchasing, and accounting staff

* Demonstrate that internal and external customers are a high priority; show willingness to go the extra mile

* Other duties as assigned



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics







* Demonstrated hands-on experience in specification, installation, and commissioning of sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, and energy consumption for water heating, power generation and/or HVAC air distribution and hydronic systems

* Demonstrated experience in electronics, controls, building energy systems (HVAC, water heating, electrical, building envelope) and related codes & standards

* Experience with data acquisition and data analysis; programming experience in LabView, Campbell Scientific, Logic Beach, or equivalent is a plus

* Work effectively in small teams and independently; manage and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities

* Flexibility and willingness for continuous learning and improvement

* Strong communication and technical writing skills

* Occasional travel for field site visits or pilot implementations



Education and Experience







* Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or related engineering discipline

* Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience desired
