Job Description

Manpower Engineering is seeking a remote contract Environmental Specialist with Hydrogeology/Superfund expertise for our client in the Nashville, TN area. Indefinite duration, flexible day and hours.

Overview of job duties:

* Manage impaired sites & environmental liabilities associated with owned or 3rd party sites by fulfilling obligations, minimizing costs and reducing risks

* Negotiate with regulators and other stakeholders by creating cost-effective solutions which reduce future environmental risks

* Interact with a variety of disciplines including legal, real estate, finance, engineering, health, safety & environment, procurement and communications

* Assess contaminated property risks using a multi-disciplinary approach to resolve complex issues and facilitate effective exit strategies

* Provide technical expertise in the assessment, investigation, design and execution of remediation projects with a focus on cost-effective and practical solutions.

* Negotiate with regulators and other stakeholders to deliver cost effective solutions for environmental liabilities

* Manage investigation and cleanup actions in any of the following programs (or equivalent): Superfund (CERCLA), Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA), Brownfields and/or Underground Storage Tank Cleanup

* Manage the selection of contractors, consultants and vendors for assigned projects - evaluate qualification, develop and assess bids and negotiate and control scope of work and costs.

* Oversee contracts, budgets and schedules of assigned projects.

Here's a summary of who we're seeking:

* S. in Geological, Environmental or Civil Engineering, or Geology

* 10+ years of relevant consulting experience in managing large environmental investigation & remediation of soil and water projects from strategy development to implementation to closure

* Strong knowledge of laws and regulations involved in environmental remediation.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with involvement in preparing the following: Preliminary Assessment, Remedial Investigation, Feasibility Study, Remedial Design, Remedial Action, Risk Assessment, Brownfield Cleanup and Decision Documents

* Ability to interact and influence peers, management, regulatory agencies, field personnel, technical staff, consultants and contractors

* Maintain 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) or 8-hour Refresher certification

* Must have the capacity to work independently and as part of a team
