Description:



Setup, operate and continually load/unload various machines associated with fastener parts cleaning, degreasing, heat-treating and other treatment operations. Perform general departmental maintenance including machine cleaning, preventative maintenance, quality checks, documentation and inventory.



Job Responsibilities:



Maintain the flow of parts into and out of equipment and through the department in an efficient and timely manner.

Do not allow parts or identification cards to become mixed.

Using powered lift trucks and other manual means, transport materials through the department. Maintain strict safety standards at all times.

Load and unload pans of rivets into and out of rivet cleaning equipment. Puts cleaning solution into machine, when needed.

Clean out machine when needed and put spent solution into drums. Make sure the drums are properly labeled.

Keep the area around the degreaser as clean and dry as possible.

Operate the machines needed to tumble and lubricate parts and oil drip as needed.

Operate gas and electric heat treat furnaces.

Accurately perform and record results of Quality Control Tests on parts being heat treated. Input results into the computer.

Operate drum type washers when necessary.

Accurately weigh and record daily rivet production.

Perform general departmental maintenance including machine cleaning, preventative maintenance, and raw material and parts inventory. Maintain a clean and safe operating environment at all times for yourself and anyone accessing the department.

Perform other miscellaneous work as required.

Skills or Experience Desired:



High School Graduate or GED desired, AND



Experience operating and/or maintaining machinery in a manufacturing setting, OR

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mechanical ability with regard to making adjustments to machinery to achieve maximum operating efficiency.

Ability to perform physically demanding work including frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. to shoulder height.

Trade School and/or additional education/experience desired; all applicants will be given a mechanical aptitude test to anticipate future flexibility for header operator or other positions.

General:



Must become certified to operate powered lift trucks and demonstrate safe behaviors at all times.

Demonstrate commitment to personal safety and following all safety requirements; use PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves

Daily work in a standard factory and machine shop environment and frequent/high exposure to machine oils, lubricants, metal shavings, etc.

Shift rotation as well as cross-training/rotating into Plating and Waste-Water Treatment operations may be required.

Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
