Job Description

Field Service Technicians

Overview: The Field Service Technicians (FST) are responsible to maintain air machines in the New England region, and other regions as assigned. This requires that they are fully trained and able to service the units efficiently, that they are able to meet face to face with customers and consumers and reflect positively, and that they are able to work independently, with little or no supervision and use good judgment in all decisions. The FST's need to work together as a team supporting each other, and sharing knowledge and experience.

Major components of the position include:

Safety:

Always exhibits safe driving habits in every situation

Works safely with regards to powering down the unit.

Works safely at the job site in terms of housekeeping and clearing the area of others.

Works as a craftsmen, good work habits and uses the correct tools.

Machine Knowledge:

Has an in-depth knowledge of the machines and operations

Is able to quickly diagnosis a non-working machine

Can generally diagnosis and make a repair within 20-30 minutes of being on site

Is able to carry out PM's and machine upgrades.

Knows when to call for assistance

Uses time efficiently

Professionalism, Customer Facing:

Is a great representative in the eyes of the customer and retail consumer.

Always professional in dealing with the public, good communication skills.

Recognizes that the customer is always right, provides necessary feedback to supervisor rather than confront a customer.

Judgment and Decision Making:

Works well with minimal supervision

Always demonstrates good judgment to the benefit of the customer and the company.

Makes good decisions hour to hour about how to best accomplish the call list based on local traffic, weather and other circumstances.



Makes good independent decisions, knows when to call supervisor for advice.

Follows company practices, policies and guidelines, anticipates exceptions, and talks with supervisor in advance.

Integrity:

The Field Service Technician handles cash, and equally important, the company's reputation on a daily basis. The FST must beyond any doubts take full responsibility for this.

Job Requirements and Experience:

Requires training in building, testing and troubleshooting air machines

Hands on mechanical skills with basic hand and power tools

Practical knowledge/experience with 110V and low voltage circuits

Ability to move machines from the delivery vehicle to the pad, weighing up to 100pounds.

Maturity, and the ability to work independently

Able to utilize GPS, Fleetmatics, and customer driven work order control systems

Must possess and maintain a driver's license and clean driving record.

Must follow and complete work orders including technical and paperwork requirements.

Daily Assignments:

This is not a routine 8 hour per day job. Some days may be 7 hours, others may be 10 or 11 based on complexity of repairs and travel times. If for some reason a tech cannot finish a route as assigned, you should immediately contact your supervisor by phone. FST must be flexible in completing the daily assignments and working overtime as necessary. Job does require limited overnight travel each quarter for collections, PM's and installations. These will be planned at least one week in advance.
