Job Description

Manpower is currently recruiting for our client for a General Foreman for a permanent opportunity for their Edmonton/Nisku shop



Job descriptions: following, but not limited to

* Safely carried out the construction of deeper shafts using different methods like Slide Rail, Trench Box, Liner Plate, Secant Piles

* Manage and oversee all work progress for the crew(s) and provide direction and task assignment;

* Responsible for coordination of resources which includes the manpower, equipment and material required for the job

* Responsible for coordination of equipment malfunctions and requesting repairs as needed

* Understand municipal codes, permits and regulations;

* Conduct and lead morning site meetings;

* Determine operator / worker competency;

* Enforce the HSE program with all operations;

* Communicate incidents, hazards and safety concerns to workers and superintendent;

* Ensures safe work practices / procedures, quality workmanship, productivity and schedule of the crew;

* Assess external and environmental factors and determines appropriate work plan;

* Manage crews and ensure there is adequate supervision and provide daily work instructions to crew;

* Understands site and client-specific installation practices;

* Monitors performance, progress and productivity of the project, and ensures the alignment of the construction to the project plans and drawings;

* Inspect work regularly to ensure quality control and compliance with client expectations;

* Ensure that all tools and equipment utilized have been inspected and in good repair prior to use;

* Meet and review any issues or items out of scope from the field crew;

* Track and report daily progress

* Regularly communicate work progress, schedule variance, crew and safety performance

* Conduct and participate in Safety Meetings, Toolbox Meetings, Site Inspections; Incident Reports and ensure the frequency is as per the HSE program requirements;

* Ensure all time and documentation have been submitted accurately and punctually by the crew;

* Perform other related duties as required.

Skill and Abilities:

* 2-3 years direct experience in underground construction (must), locating and operating heavy equipment (preferred);

* Minimum 2+ years in supervisory role;

* Must have a strong work ethic and an ability to work in a team setting.

* Clear understanding of underground utilities;

* Familiar with plans / drawings

* Must understand traffic management plans;

* Minimum Class 5 valid driver's license with clean driver's abstract;

* Proven problem-solving ability, analytical and numeracy skills;

* Strong leadership abilities & organizational skills;

* Excellent interpersonal & decision-making skills;

* Effective written, verbal and listening communication skills;

* Must be willing to work outdoors in some extreme weather / dusty conditions;

* Able to pass pre-employment medical and drug screening

Qualifications:

* Certificates (Required): Fall Protection, Confined Space, H2S alive, CSTS 2020
