Heavy Duty Mechanic – Surrey, BC 
Are you a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic looking for your next great career move? Our client is looking for Heavy Duty Mechanics for their lumber mill located in Surrey, BC.

What are the job responsibilities?
• Responsible for daily maintenance work and personal safety.
• Maintain mobile machinery, primarily forklifts, boom boats, grapples and bucket loaders keeping equipment in good repair to allow for effective mill flow.
• Maintain mobile equipment, Boom Boats, heavy logging (loaders, grapple) and forklifts for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using deduction and testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets specifications.
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
• Welding and fabrication as necessary.
• Work indoors, exposed to typical outdoor environmental temperatures, dust, vibration and noise within acceptable WCB Levels.
• Use of hand tools and equipment (grinders, etc) as required weighing between 25-30 lbs.
• Continuous walking and standing throughout shift.
• Routinely carrying objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Routinely handling and moving heavy materials up to 100 lbs with mechanical or otherwise assistance when necessary.
• Other related duties may be assigned.

What do you bring to the job?
• Prior experience and/or certification as Heavy Duty Mechanic.
• Experience working in a lumber or sawmill is an asset.
• Proficient communication in English is required.
• Able to use all required personal protective equipment, including a respirator when needed.
• Able to work in a fast-paced production environment.
• Able to read and follow safe work procedures.
• Clear understanding of Metric and Imperial measures.
• Adaptable to changing priorities, troubleshooting abilities and quick decision-making abilities.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Able to physically handle heavy materials safely and effectively. Record electronically or make notes
regarding repairs completed, repairs needing to be done or parts required to complete tasks.
