Job Description

Our growing Oakville client who is a leader in the Financial industry is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years related experience and will be responsible for the following:

Representing the Human Resources Department, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for working with new, current and former employees, helping them to navigate the policies and procedures of the organization. They will provide advice and guidance to management on organizational policy matters while also supporting team members in their employment. They will use their excellent administrative skills and strong interpersonal abilities to perform a number of functions including but not limited to:

* Implement and administer employee policies and programs

* Compose confidential correspondence and reports and maintain appropriate records

* Respond to questions from managers and employees on a wide variety of matters

* Promote positive employee relations and a professional workplace environment

* Benefits Administration for the benefit plan including answering questions and assisting team members with their benefits questions, administer disability claims

* Develop/maintain/update databases and filing system (includes the organization's time off tracking system)

* Update policies in the Employee Handbook as required

* Develop and deliver training programs, such as AODA training, Violence and Harassment training and Health and Safety

* Work with management to assess training needs and schedule where appropriate

* Actively manage the full-cycle recruitment process including interviewing candidates for roles across the organization and preparing job offers/contracts for new hires

* Prepare new employee packages and conduct new hire orientations

* Track performance evaluations and ensure they are conducted with each employee annually. Provide advice on completing and conducting evaluations and provide sign off on probationary reviews

* Take an active role in the planning of Employee Appreciation events throughout the year

* Act as a certified Employee Representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee and help to ensure OHSA compliance; coordinate all health and safety related activities within the organization, including chairing JHSC meetings, scheduling inspections, ensuring staff have completed training, committee members are certified and that first aid responders are trained

* Assist the Vice President, Human Resources with other special projects and Human Resources initiatives


A strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines is required. A positive attitude with the ability to work well independently is crucial.

The Human Resources Representative must be organized and accurate. Strong written and oral communication skills are required and proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must. Experience with HCM software is also a requirement (Dayforce experience would be preferred). A friendly, flexible and personable manner is extremely important.


A University or College degree in Human Resources Management as well as the CHRP designation is required. The CHRL designation would be considered an asset.

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role is required.

Salary- $65000-$70,000
