Job Description

Position Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that handles hydraulic simulations, Leak detection analysis and trainer configuration for liquid pipelines. The candidate will eventually be trained in all these areas, however initially the focus will be on managing steady state and transient simulations using Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS).

The successful candidate supports new and existing projects in Engineering and Operations through hydraulic simulation, design, and sizing various equipment to address system changes, improve operating efficiency, identify opportunities for improvement, mitigate risk, or address business questions. In addition, the candidate may contribute to the lead detection program and configure trainer systems for surface facilities, crude and natural gas liquids pipelines

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Perform steady state simulations and evaluate SCADA history data to establish the capacity, and recommend design modifications to increase the throughput.

* Run transient analysis using SPS to identify surge limitations and operation set points, or design relief or pressure protection infrastructure.

* Prepare technical surge reports for surface production facilities and pipelines.

* Providing guidance to project engineers and third party engineering firms regarding pipeline design and equipment sizing.

* Size pipes, pumps, motors, valves, control valves, relief valves and relief tanks.

* Collaborating with Control Center operations to fine tune operational procedures.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

Basic/Required:

* Legally authorized to work in the United States

* Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited university. Experience may be considered in place of a degree.

* Working knowledge of Fluid Mechanics or Hydraulics or Leak Detection or Pipeline Operations

* Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel

* Travel will be limited, but must being willing to if necessary

Preferred:

* 4 or more years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, preferably in pipeline operations

* 2 or more years of experience with liquid pipeline simulation

* Working knowledge of pipeline design and operation

* Hands on programing capability (Fortran or Python or .net or Visual Studio) and basic database management skills (SQL)

* Knowledge of PHMSA 49 CFR 195.452 (i)(3) including Mega Rule

* Proficiency interpreting P&ID drawings

* Knowledge of pipeline equipment, including rotating equipment (pumps/motors/engines), Valve, Control Valves, Relief and pressure protection systems

* Knowledge of the products and crude characteristics and batch tracking

* Strong communication skills both verbal and written

* Self-motivated and requires little supervision

* The position could be slightly tailored to fit a different level of expertise depending on the candidate aptness

* Knowledge of Leak Detection and Trainer systems is considered a plus
