Job Description

Manpower is looking for Permanent Full Time - Journeyman Welder for an exciting client located in Near North Transcona Area, Manitoba.



We are currently seeking a Journeyman Welder to perform all kinds of welding, brazing, and cutting of any type of metal using gas and electric welding equipment.

What is the job?



* Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for jobs

* Interprets drawings and sketches, plans details of working procedure, tools, and material requirements

* Selects materials in accordance with suitability for job

* Lays out work, makes sketches, and determines stock sizes as required.

* Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded as required

* Set-up, assembles and tack weld parts, constructing special fixtures as needed

* Performs gas and electric welding in all positions (down-hand vertical, overhead, etc)

* Makes any type and size of weld, such as "V" lap, butt, etc., pre-heating parts when required

* Builds up worn or defective parts

* Cleans, grinds, and flame anneals parts and welded joints as required

* Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut materials to size and shape

* Exercises all safety precautions and makes provisions for handling material and equipment to and from job site as required in connection with work.

* Works in shop or field

* Performs work requiring a working knowledge of the welding properties of various types of metals, welding rods, welding heats, stress relief, allowances for fit-up and machining and the effect of shrinkage, warpage, and expansion

* Keeps work area clean

* Notifies appropriate personnel of any procedural abnormalities

* Observes and follows all safety rules and regulations

* Other duties as required by the immediate Supervisor



What do you bring to the job?



* A High School Diploma or GED equivalency

* Experience with equivalent years of experience as a Journeyman Welder.

* Must possess at minimum a Journeyman Certificate in Manitoba (Must be ticketed)

* A B-pressure welding certificate would be considered an asset

* Must be proficient at SMAW (stick welding), GMAW (Mig welding), and Carbon air arc gouging

* Preference will be given to applicants with previous maintenance experience

* Previous experience on heavy duty environment is an asset

* Must be able to work independently

* Problem solving and ability to trouble shoot will be considered a strong asset

* Ability to pass a background check and substance test.

* Must have own transportation

* Able to start work immediately
