Our growing Oakville client who is a leader in the financial industry is looking for a Junior Compliance Offer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years related experience and will be responsible for the following:

Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources (with parallel oversight by VP & General Counsel), the incumbent will provide support for Compliance practices and procedures to ensure the company is compliant with all applicable governing legislation, regulations and internal corporate policies, including but not limited to privacy issues, code of conduct and whistleblower events, customer complaint processes, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent will provide general support as required on all matters of the companies' Compliance processes, procedures and initiatives, including:

* Drafting and revising internal policies, procedures and reports relating to, among other things, privacy issues, customer complaints and whistleblower concerns;

* Carrying out day-to-day tasks associated with internal policies and procedures;

* Supporting the Ethics Commissioners and Privacy Officer, as well as other key internal stakeholders (Executive team, department heads, etc.) with privacy, whistleblower and other Compliance matters;

* Identifying and interpreting new and changing Compliance requirements as well as industry 'best-practices';

* Identifying risks in internal processes and procedures and researching possible solutions;

* Assisting with new Compliance initiatives, including dissemination of information and training;

* Liaising with, and providing support to various departments on Compliance-related matters;

* Monitoring Compliance-related events and assisting with investigations, as requested;

* Assist with internal and external reporting requirements; and

The successful candidate will be given considerable responsibility and will have primary hands-on

carriage of a number of compliance-related processes and initiatives under the supervision of

Director of Human Resources and VP & General Counsel. The above accountabilities must be

managed effectively in order to avoid significant potential risks (e.g., reputation, legal and

regulatory) for the company.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

* Strong understanding of PIPEDA, provincial privacy and personal information legislation,

and other legislation impacting the financial services sector;

* Ability to conduct statutory analysis and apply in practical settings; and

* Experience developing corporate policies, procedures and guidelines;

The successful candidate must be organized, accurate and detail oriented with strong analytical

and problem-solving skills. The incumbent must be able to perform under pressure and within

tight time constraints as there is frequently a need to re-prioritize activities due to urgent internal

and external demands, deadlines and emergencies.

Strong written and oral communication skills are required and proficiency in Microsoft Office

(specifically, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is essential.


* University education, preferably in business or law;

* Minimum of 1-2 years' compliance and privacy related experience, preferably in the

financial services industry; and

* Industry recognized privacy certification such as CIPP/C is an asset
