Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY The Research Technician safely performs specialized R&D assignments, involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating, and/or solving problems concerning our processes, equipment, and products.. ROLE SUMMARY The selected candidate will support R&D sample preparation and testing, equipment maintenance and lab operation in support of product development and other assigned R&D functions. - Supports engineers and scientists in R&D team with their projects. - Executes and/or supports commercial and manufacturing support requests. - Manages and documents projects and tasks effectively with supervision. - Plays leading role in lab management: safety aspects, equipment maintenance, 5S, lab audit preparation and action follow-up, lab postings, regular equipment checks etc. - Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility. - Conducts hands-on experimental work. Essential Functions Prepares/processes materials samples including: - Active involvement in standard and exploratory experiment design - Routine laboratory activity to make or prep materials and test samples - Development work with non-routine R&D assignments such as design of fixtures for experimental set-up and establishing proper data acquisition - Organize testing among different requestors and priority levels Collects and reports scientific & engineering data obtained from laboratory equipment through an effective plan/coordination and maintains laboratory notebook. Maintain laboratories and equipment including set-up, operation and trouble shooting of experimental equipment or instruments Other duties in the department or site-wide committees as assigned



They must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. (cartons of ceiling tiles) and be comfortable working at heights. (Motorized lift used). Should be comfortable using tools such as a knife to cut edge samples with appropriate PPE.



The individual must be able to multitask effectively and meet specific deadlines. Sample preparation can take some time so it is good practice to prepare the next sample as the initial sample is being tested. The sample load can be a lot at times so organization is key!



After performing necessary tests, the individual would be required to analyze and communicate any data to the requestor. The individual will be cross-trained for various operations in the lab.



KNOWLEDGE



Hands-on skills in safely conducting laboratory experiments

Good attention to detail and quality of work. Organization is key.

Written and oral communication to supervisor

Knowledge of Ceilings/grid and/or drywall industry is a plus

Associates degree in scientific field is desirable, but professional experience is more favorable

Responsibilities includes preparation, installation and deconstruction of ceilings product.

Knowledge of computer and software use as Microsoft Excel and specific testing equipment software. This can include analyzing data in excel.
