Licensed Machinist Needed

Peterborough, ON

Our client in the Peterborough area is seeking an experience Machinist to join their team.



Position Overview: Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify or repair mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures



SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES



Use metal working machines and tools (i.e. metal lathe, mill, grinder, band saw, etc.) to machine production parts to drawings Identify and inspect components; inspect and measure machined parts to assure quality.

Read and understand Bills of Material, drawings and procedures.

Follow Engineering Manufacturing Procedures (EMPs), workmanship standards and drawings.

Meet or exceed quality and productivity expectations. Maintain shop equipment in good working condition.

Monitor shop supplies and maintain appropriate levels .Adhere to company housekeeping practices and policies.

.Adhere to all company health and safety rules and regulations including WHMIS.

Perform data entry into computer system Co-operate in responding to the company's customer service needs.

Demonstrates good communication and team skills with management and fellow employees.



EXPERIENCE REQUIRED



Ontario Certificate of Qualification for Machinist, Tool and Die Maker, or Mould Maker.

3 years' experience as a Machinist.

Manufacturing experience with metal lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, saws and thread cutting.

Experience with safe work practices (i.e. machine shop safety, handling chemicals, WHMIS, etc.).

Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of safe machine operation

Ability to read drawings to assist in production and manufacturing of customized products.

Strong mechanical aptitude. Excellent dexterity skills when performing machining functions.

Ability to perform heavy lifting, bending, reaching, loading and moving of material/product when fulfilling day to day duties and responsibilities.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, work under pressure and plan to meet production deadlines and maintain an organized and clean shop area.

Ability to demonstrate good communication skills and team skills when working with management and fellow employees.

Good problem solving and trouble shooting skills when working with the team to develop solutions to production issues.

Team focused and able to work under pressure to get the job done i.e. meet customer order deadlines.

Trained in Lockout and Tagout process.

Ability to work with chemicals.

Ability to work flexible hours/shift work.

A certificate of qualification is a must have.
