Job Description

Manpower is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic for a Permanent position with our client at their Columbus, GA facility. Our client is a Fortune 500 company and global leader in paper and packaging products.

We are looking for a motivated individual who can function in a flexible, fast paced production environment. The workplace requires individuals who understand the needs of the business while maintaining a focus on safety, customer satisfaction, quality, and productivity.

A Maintenance Mechanic is expected to have the job specific skills necessary for all monthly PM inspections. The Mechanic is expected to provide maintenance support to all production equipment at the Columbus plant. He/she is expected to be competent in all mechanical skills (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication) and to begin developing fundamental electrical skills necessary for basic electrical troubleshooting (fuses, motors, etc). The Mechanic is expected to be a fully functional maintenance person, demonstrating job specific knowledge and leadership skills during major projects such as roll changes.


* At least five years industrial mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience.

* On the job success in safety, attendance and quality of work expected.

* Maintenance experience in corrugated industry a plus. Strong knowledge of lubrication, hydraulics, welding and pneumatics required.

* Excellent teamwork, cooperation and problem solving skills.

* Willingness to fully cross train in other technical areas to enhance capabilities.

* Willing and able to work all shifts, call-ins, holidays and overtime as needed.

* Able to work with computerized maintenance management system.


A high school diploma (or GED) is required. One to two years experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is required. Experience in the corrugated or converting industry is preferred, but not required.
