Job Description

The Maintenance Scheduler is responsible for taking a Maintenance Plan and bringing together all the resources needed to complete it. The scheduling role involves assembling and coordinating the information, people, materials, equipment, along with all the other necessary resources to get the job done within the time set up in the schedule. This person is the point person for scheduling all planned maintenance work orders for the Louisville PPCAT Plant.


* Support safe and environmentally responsible work behaviors within the maintenance team.

* Applies continuous improvement principles and experience to drive excellence with regards to scheduling work and minimizing production downtime.

* Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives and activities. Provides guidance, coaching, and support to personnel to ensure KPI's are met, including (but not limited to) ESHA, Maintenance, Production Schedule.

* Meets with appropriate functional groups involved with weekly production schedules and generates a schedule based on the plant requirements.

* Facilitates a weekly scheduling meeting.

* Facilitates outage scheduling meetings.

* Schedules contractor(s) for equipment repairs/rebuild work.

* Confer with plant team members and SAP to determine the status of work orders. Effectively communicate with Maintenance, Production, Reliability, and Project team members on the status of planned work.

* Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.

* Releases work orders and distribute procedures to maintenance personnel to meet equipment specifications, parts availability, and coordination with production schedules.

* Ensures that work orders are properly closed after maintenance personnel has verified accurate information.

* Post and maintain maintenance schedules for access to all affected parties.

* Provides reports to management for maintenance activities as necessary.

* Maintains electronic and hard copy records of completed maintenance activities generated by SAP.

* Works with Gatekeeper/ Production coordinator to integrate production plan with the maintenance plan.

* Scheduler is the back-up for Maintenance Planner.

Performs other duties as required.


* Bachelor's degree or equivalent from college/university or technical school; or more than 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Proven experience as maintenance scheduler or similar role.

* Skilled in SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.

* Excellent attendance and performance record.

* Excellent safety record with a demonstrated ability to approach safety issues proactively.

* Demonstrated team leadership.

* Excellent mechanical, electrical, and spatial aptitude with the ability to learn and apply root cause analysis and lean & six sigma methodologies within an industrial manufacturing environment.

* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
