General Information

Job Description: Material Handler

Shift: 9am - 5:30pm

Primary Functions:

Loads, unloads, and stores finished products, raw materials, supplies, and containers. Assures that movements are made in accordance with all governmental (DOT, IDOT, IATA, IMDG ...) regulations and proper plant procedures. Works in a safe and efficient manner. Uses and maintains acceptable housekeeping practices. Assures that all production and shipping orders are filled timely, in accordance with required standards, and properly recorded in computer systems. Final sign-off & certification for completion of loads preparation.

Tools, Equipment, and Materials:

Lift Trucks and other loading and unloading equipment.

Desk and hand held computer equipment.

Various labeling and placarding equipment.

Small hand-held power tools.

Stretch wrapping and banding equipment.

Finished goods, raw materials, containers, and miscellaneous supplies.

Material sampling equipment.

Placards, labels, and bar code paper stock.

Bar code and label printers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Receives and unloads incoming materials. Reviews material for proper marking, placarding and labeling. Prepares all required paperwork. Takes samples as required. Labels all material using established procedures. Stores material in computer designated area and confirms put away through computer transactions either by RF or computer terminal.

Receives warehouse pick instructions either via RF or paper document. Plans work associated with picking orders. Picks orders and moves material to designated staging areas. Assures all proper marking, placarding and labeling requirements are met. Attaches shipping papers and labels as required. Completes and inputs all required pick confirmation information.

Prepares trailers for loading. Loads material per Nalco bill of lading. Reviews material for all customer and government requirements and attaches any required shipping information. Assures that driver has and affixes all required placards on the outside of trailer. Completes and inputs all required shipment documentation.
