Manpower is currently seeking Mechanical Technologists for a long term contract position with a reputable company in Calgary. Please see details below.

Position: Contractor: Mechanical Technologist - Advanced Technology

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Project: Technology development and manufacturing scale-up of solid oxide stack technology for fuel cell and electrolysis applications


* Support stack pilot manufacturing process development including tooling and fixtures

* Carry out stack manufacturing operations for, but not limited to, interconnect manufacturing, stack core builds and firing, stack final assembly, conditioning and testing

* Carry out mechanical design and drafting in SolidWorks CAD environment

* Execute designs including procurement, assembly, testing and commissioning activities as required

* Support cell and stack test stand repair and maintenance

* Help propel one of the highest efficiency electrolysis technologies to market

* Interact and coordinate with other technology development groups

* Other tasks as assigned

* Report to Senior Manager, Engineering


Education: Mechanical Technologist diploma

Experience: Minimum of 3 years' work experience in mechanical technologist role. Hands-on skills in assembly, testing and machine workshop is preferred

Ideal candidate must have:

* Canadian citizens and Canadian permanent residents

* Have hands-on experience with mechanical design, assembly and use of equipment

* Mechanical design experience with metal components and knowledge of various manufacturing techniques

* 3D CAD software experience, SolidWorks environment preferred

* Keen attention to detail and diligence to process and process improvement

* Responsible for preparing engineering drawings

* Be flexible and results-oriented with strong organizational and written and verbal communication skills

* Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

* Be able to interact with internal and external customers, work in a multidisciplinary team. Interact with pilot manufacturing and technology teams, capable of communicating with all levels of the organization, and report results and updates to managers

* Be able to work independently with minimal supervision

* Be able and willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respirator, and other PPE as required

* Travel: Some local/domestic travel may be required in addition to occasional travel to US.

* Have or be able to obtain a Passport

* Personal interest in fuel cells / hydrogen / green technology

Working Environment/Working Conditions:

* Desk work using a computer

* This position is located indoors and requires the ability to move between separated rooms within the same building

* Occasional work outdoors in a power plant environment during commissioning activities

* Must be able to work physically in the office environment, lab environment and in the field

* Walking/standing/working in an office, lab, fabrication area, or designated installation site environment

* Periodic work outdoors in a power plant environment during commissioning activities.

* Lifting up to 25 lbs., utilizing both hands simultaneously, utilizing hand tools, test equipment

* Have or be able to obtain a Passport
