Job Description

Job Title: Electrical Test and Development Engineer

Department: Mechatronics Engineering


Test and Validation engineer who is responsible for coordination, implementation, and analysis of vehicle and component level electrical and control tests for heavy duty and commercial vehicle platforms.


Implement complex vehicle level electrical and control system tests working in conjunction with design engineering. Apply theoretical electrical principles and engineering techniques to insure accurate and reliable test results are achieved.

Interface with engineering personnel to determine the most effective test principles are implemented. . Interface with design engineering personnel to analyze problems encountered in prototype development/testing. Provide creative, technically feasible solutions.

Direct the activities of electrical technicians to insure proper test instrumentation is installed and utilized in the correct manner

Evaluate state-of-the-art developments in the vehicle industry and apply the latest advances in test technologies

Apply statistical and engineering techniques in designing and testing. Use programming and modeling techniques in conjunction with mathematical analysis.

Work with engineering management and safety consultants to implement functional safety test processes that comply to IEC26262 standards

* Test and analysis of complex electrical systems utilizing vehicle diagnostic tools such as Canalyzer, Canoe, CANape, and other vendor software. Tools also include standard industry data collection systems such as current sensors, voltage transducers, current shunts, analog and digital measurement systems and loggers

* Apply statistical and engineering analysis techniques to document test results

* Collaborate with Test & Development personnel to analyze problems encountered in prototype development and testing. Provide creative, technically feasible solutions

* Research new technology to allow more efficient and reliable testing technologies to be utilized

Required Education and Experience:

Mid-level Professional BS/BA and prefer 2 - years of relevant experience OR 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree

Degree Focus:

Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics Engineering or other science based degree with focus in electrical systems

Experience with standard electrical test systems and technologies

Experience with data collection and analysis technologies

Experience with CAN based communications protocols

Clean driving record and ability to obtain class B CDL license to evaluate and test vehicle control systems
