Job Description

The position is responsible for either the Fermentation Plant or Downstream/Utilities Plant from a technical perspective, which includes support of production staff for technical issues (equipment, process engineering, MOC's), support of the maintenance team and development and execution all CAPEX in the area. This position will execute work and support both Lysine and Omega-3 fatty acid production. This position will closely support production. Will need to identify and execute improvements related to reliability, efficiency and cost optimization. Responsible for creating the assets list, components and preventive plans in SAP. At times this position will act as a project manager and/or project responsible for a CAPEX project in their given area of the plant, working with internal and external engineering resources, often acting as the lead, supervising the construction of the assets, often acting as the construction manager.

* Participate in maintenance meetings, provide technical support on specific topics, focused on reliability and plant availability improvements.

* Responsible to help coordinate shutdown planning, developing and executing scopes in the area.

* Provide technical support on equipment issues, develop scopes for technical or capex changes, execute MOC's and follow-up on incident investigations and non-conformances.

* Create Maintenance Master data in SAP: Maintenance Plans, Task lists, Spare Parts, MRP.

* Able to provide inputs to PHAs, MOCs, and contribute to process descriptions and automation narratives.

* Perform the role of project manager or project responsible according to Evonik's BTD's, leading projects up to $500 TUSD with no supervision. Provide accurate costs, schedules, and cash flow forecasts.

* Effectively develop the scope of projects in all phases. Stakeholders include plant operators, area managers, site management, quality, safety, and business managers. Must effectively manage scope changes.

* Act as a lead working with internal and external engineers (i.e. Engineering Companies) and act as own construction manager for their project.

* Key resource to provide input into the maintenance and capex planning process.

* Use SAP for entering requisitions, work orders, and pulling all information related to maintenance and project costs. Main responsible to convert notifications to work orders.

* Work with maintenance to define spare parts and PM's for new capital investments or technical changes in your area.

* Inspect and follow-up with contractors, creating documents with procedures and reports to track.


Role has the complexity of managing capex projects, supporting production & maintenance and process improvements for a multi customer site which includes a joint venture partner. Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferable to have capex project, production, and/or maintenance experience. Require a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or similar degree.
