Job Description

A client of ours in the Medical Device field is hiring a PRINCIPAL PACKAGING ENGINEER!

Scope- Independently conducts exploratory and development work as part of the Global Sustainability Packaging and Labeling team. Receives minimal technical direction/review on broad scope or complex projects. Viewed as an expert in sustainable packaging/labeling materials. The role requires an understanding of engineering in relation to reuse, remanufacturing, recycling, and the effects of carbon emissions.

Key Responsibilities:

* Drive assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined technologies, products, materials, processes, equipment, and/or scientific methods to broaden Intellectual Property in key strategic areas.

* Provide guidance, leadership, and project management support to product and technology teams.

* Work closely with a variety of personnel and divisions to ensure an improved, practical, and consistent approach to sustainable packaging and labeling.

* Generate and manage packaging related documentation, KSD's, test plans and reports, and other documents related to sustainability.

* Assess the feasibility and soundness of alternative engineering processes, products, or equipment.

* Manage the completion of packaging testing for new product development and existing design improvements.

* Coordinate, manage, and document project goals and progress, and recommend appropriate revisions.

* Obtain feedback on concepts and performance of new packages/devices and to translate customer needs into packaging and product concepts.

* Work with BSC suppliers to establish partnerships that maximize quality, delivery, and lead times, and to incorporate their abilities, ideas, and knowledge into new development.

* Demonstrate PDP/TPD system knowledge through coaching and delivery of high quality, high impact deliverables.

* As applicable, train and/or supervise technicians and/or interns.

* Lead broad divisional / corporate initiatives related to Sustainable Packaging.

* Define and document world-wide packaging distribution chain details, and work with packaging engineers to convert these details into product requirements.

* Develop strong team skills, including optimized communication, teamwork, initiative, and managed execution of project deliverables.

* Keep abreast of new technologies and advances in medical device packaging.
