Job Description
Job Summary: This role will be responsible for the continuous improvement of plant safety, operation, quality and environmental programs; proposing and carrying projects forward from design through installation and evaluation; and utilizing expertise in process unit operations to provide assistance to other plant groups as required. Safety Health and Environmental Compliance
* Demonstrates personal leadership in plant safety and environmental initiatives
* Ensures process and project compliance with construction, engineering, safety and environmental codes and regulations
* Lead or participate in process hazard analysis (PHA) studies
* Support safety and environmental related incident investigations
* Support safety, PHA and environmental action item resolution and maintain documentation related to support design, process changes and/or process improvements Process Engineer Quality
* Provide technical support to the on-site quality lab as required
* Monitor plant processes and reports deficiencies to ensure product quality standards are maintained
* Follow key operating parameters, troubleshoot problems, and recommend changes to operations. Process Engineering
* Identify, propose, plan and implement process improvement projects
* Support the site's process safety management system with an initial focus on it's mechanical integrity program
* Support the site's equipment reliability management processes - maintain and update process safety information (PSI) for the site including drawings and design calculations
* Coordinate all aspects of project management including installation, oversight, cost controls and documentation
* Communicate with internal groups and contractors to obtain best practices and experience input used in process improvements or project scopes
* Communicate project status to stakeholders (informal and formal) using e-mail, technical report writing and presentation best practices
* Complete technical project reports in a timely manner that effectively, professionally and completely document project activities for historical reference
* Participate in review and establishment of plant priorities
* Develop and deliver training to plant employees on process improvements /modifications Qualifications:
* Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in operations, project engineering and process safety management systems - experience in the chemical industry is considered an asset
* Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
* Working in an ISO environment is an asset
* Experience in problem solving, safety (HAZAN) and Continuous Improvement tools would be an asse
