Job Description

The HSE Advisor will be required to partner the business in achieving company objectives by leading and facilitating the development, delivery, implementation, measurement and maintenance of Global HSE systems. Success will be dependent on the ability to engage at the site level and drive the HSE culture and performance within the organization.

* Develop and implement with Operations, HSE plans/schedules to ensure objectives are met

* Assist with the design, implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System using AS4801 and OHSAS 18001 as references, including regulatory and legislative obligations

* Support and use Safety Management System and implement the Risk Management tools

* Monitor and review company training matrices and conduct HSE training where required

* Ensure employee safety suggestions are noted and communicated HSE

* Take appropriate action to correct unsafe work conditions and behaviors

* Participate, facilitate or lead incident investigations and produce Root Cause Analysis reports

* Monitor and implement, safety related meetings and monitor action items to ensure they are followed up and closed out

* Champion Switched On behavioral safety program

* Provide guidance on suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) to management and personnel including correct usage

* Carry out audits, safety inspections, safety observations as required and support timely close out of actions and assist in the preparation, maintenance and practice of site ERPs

* Promote the reporting of all incidents and assist in identification of remedial action including the appropriate accountability in alignment with Consequence Standard. Take ownership of timely close out actions with Management

* Collation provision of safety data for the compilation of monthly and other reports

* Support and implement Contractor Management system

* Champion the Business Continuity Plan including implementation and maintenance

* Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company's employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Manager

* Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations

* Any other duties appropriate to the level and responsibility of the position as required

* At least 2 years' experience in HSE, preferably with multi-site organizations in the Construction, Mining, Power Generation or Utility industry.

* Must hold tertiary qualifications in HSE. Strong Understanding of current HSE legislation and associated standards, codes and practices

* Experience managing industrial hazards, SDS systems and HSE file management

* Investigative skills

* Self-servicing in the use of IT with proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Attention to detail and the ability to compile clear, concise and professional reports

* Experience in Workers Compensation (management of claims)

* Current Drivers license essential

* Experience in auditing Safety Management Systems

* Willingness to undertake training and achieve qualifications to ensure compliance and regulatory requirements at the discretion and expense of company

* Knowledge & understanding of Environmental issues preferred

* Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment and First Aid Certification preferred
