Job Description

Project Engineer will focus on improving the life-cycle costs by using evaluating emerging technologies and technical solutions for mechanical equip. Perform mechanical engineering tasks including engineering analysis, drawings, system and functional requirements, hazard analysis and vendor performance specifications



Ensures all mechanical/piping and related tactical issues such as small modifications, troubleshooting and OPEX projects that arise at facility are evaluated from the technical/mechanical engineering perspective. Ensures all mechanical/piping project functions are integrated effectively across all relevant work groups. Develops scopes of work for mechanical/piping OPEX modifications, following the global Management of Change (MOC) process. Effective collaboration with the maint dept on the troubleshooting, assessment, evaluation, inspection and recommended solutions related to static and rotative equipment and mechanical related issues in general. Provides effective mechanical/piping engineering services. Contributes to the design approval process on assigned OPEX projs and small modifications to ensure input is obtained from the appropriate disciplines and that changes are made to the design as required. Participates when required as QA checkers on engineering design packages supporting the Projects and Engineering organization in technical for compliance with statutory requirements, appropriate standards and procedures. Ensures that appropriate hazard and risk reviews are conducted and that all issues identified are actioned. Participate as a Mechanical Engineer SME during HAZOPs and similar risk assessments, when required. Ensures reliability reviews are undertaken on project designs. Support site project leads as Mechanical Engineer stakeholder when required. Help ensure that the systems to maintain and store mechanical/piping drawings by the drawing office are in compliance with the procedures and standards. Supports plant Operations, Maint and other stakeholders with mechanical engineering services requests related to safety and reliability vulnerabilities in plant. These may be identified through various work processes including work orders, incident investigations or technical service requests.



Utilizes appropriate codes, standards, specifications, calculations methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as required for engineering design. Coordinates work with external consulting engineering services providers as required, ensuring compliance with all processes and procedures. Undertakes all aspects of the role through living the values. Conducts all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic. Networks with other sites to the mutual benefit of all sites. Responsible for ensuring awareness of all controlled documents relating to this position as per Document Awareness Report from Document Management Database.



BS in ME. Exp in a Mechanical Engineering role. Understanding of mechanical/piping engineering and design in a petrochemical environment. Knowledge of Oil and Gas, Refining and/or Petrochemical industry. Knowledge of standards and procedures and industry best practice. Manufacturing exposure to typical mechanical procedures including welding, machining and assembly. Exp with engineering design involving multiple manufacturing methods and different materials. Exp leading design, installation and testing efforts on dynamic systems. Project management fundamentals. Familiarity with API, ASME and ANSI standards. Safety culture in design and construction. AutoCAD competency.
