Job Description

As our R&D Scientist you will innovate, scale up, and commercialize existing and new cost-effective quality technology by contributing technical expertise to the corporate planning process, quickly responding to market opportunities, and defending the corporation against competitive threats.

This position plays a key role within R&Ds technical ladder. This role requires strong levels of project, people, and organizational leadership capabilities, as well as strong technical knowledge and experience.

* Analyze organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, and reactions, utilizing chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry techniques.

* Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order and troubleshoot malfunctions when needed.

* Develop, improve, and customize products, equipment, formulas, processes, and analytical methods.

* Conduct quality control tests.

* Direct, coordinate, and advise personnel in test procedures for analyzing components and physical properties of materials.

* Formulate or optimize any coating product in a known technology to meet defined requirements.

* Design and conduct feasibility and cost savings studies independently.

* Compile and analyze test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiency and to diagnose malfunctions.

* Confer with scientists and engineers to conduct analyses of research projects, interpret test results, or develop nonstandard tests.

* Communicate with Supervisors, peers, or subordinates: provide information to supervisors and co-workers in written form or in person.

* Perform tasks assigned using specific operating procedures, and following department specific quality control processes and procedures.

* BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials, or other equivalent scientific field required. MS or PhD strongly preferred.

* Outstanding technical and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

* Managing high stakes and challenging situation with all levels of organizations.

* Ability to respond to emerging business needs - strong management of change skills.

* Build strong partnerships internally within R&D, internal functions (marketing, manufacturing, sourcing, etc.) and externally (vendors, customers, etc.)
