Job Description

Manpower is looking for a Safety Manager for our clients in Virden area in Manitoba.







Position: Safety Manager



Location: Virden Manitoba



Contract type: Permanent



Salary: $70K to 98K Annually (Base on experience)







Major Duties & Responsibilities:



* Ensure site compliance to all government regulated compliance including verbal or written reporting requirements accordingly.

* Dynamically interact with site employees to identify and support new innovative ways to improve safety culture and work environment in addition to basic regulatory compliance.

* Development, maintenance, and implementation of site plans, policies, procedures, and support of continuous improvement of internal standards

* Oversee and continuously improve the delivery of elements of the site safety training program. Ensure that the site employees, contractors and visitors are trained in these standards as required

* Ensure compliance to CIAC requirements

* Oversee all of the Responsible Care Safety, PSM compliance and administration, and Security activities for the Plant. Responsible for the completion of many associated tasks, recognizing that many of the related tasks will be the responsibility of other site employees to complete.

* Member of site Joint Health and Safety Committee, active member of the COMPANY'S Safety Committee (ESC), and act as a liaison to the Plant Manager who has the decision-making authority.

* Lead incident or near miss investigations to identify root causes and be innovative when finding subsequent risk mitigating actions.

* Monitor and lead resolution of safety action items in cooperation with the site Leadership team and resources.

* Ensure that the company wide annual safety plan is integrated with the site safety plan.

* Support the COMPANY'S Director, Health & Safety in site implementation of companywide initiatives.



Key Attributes & Qualifications:



* Minimum 5 years of manufacturing/safety/compliance experience

* Minimum 5 years experience with departmental budgeting/cost management and working with Governmental Regulators and vendor contracts

* College diploma or Safety designation is preferred

* Knowledge of Responsible Care Codes/Practices, and Quality Systems

* Ability to monitor and interpret the potential impact of industry, safety/environmental trends (local, national and global) on the business.

* Strong analytical skills and the ability to make ethical judgements

* Experience with auditing safety & quality systems would be preferred
