Job Description

Manpower is looking for Scale Operator work for an exciting client located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

What is the job?



* Operate scale system to weigh peddler and commercial customers in and out of the yard ensuring weights, commodities, and pricing are correct

* Operate scale system to pay peddler and commercial accounts for material bought, calculate freight charges and use scale system to pay transport companies

* Work with Yard Inspector and Operators to minimize yard congestion and ensure a smooth traffic flow

* Ensure outgoing truck weights are correct before sending them out of the yard

* Use hand-held mobile radio devices to effectively coordinate tasks and resources between the yard and scale

* Maintain an organized scale house and ensure all paperwork is up to date and is filed properly

* Field phone calls and direct phone calls to appropriate person

* Cut scale commodity cheques, review for accuracy, and seek required approvals

* Keep work area clean and observe while following all safety rules and regulation.

* Other duties as assigned by the client.



What do you bring to the job?



* High school diploma or equivalent

* Proficient in relevant computer applications

* 1-3 years' previous work experience in customer service environment

* Exposure to ScrapIT, WeldRight or Satch is a plus

* Computer literate with intermediate skill level for Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook including Basic math skills

* Ability to speak and comprehend English

* Ability to work with minimal supervision/general oversight

* Ability to communicate clearly as including using a handheld radio

* Ability to work evenings and weekends

* Ability to pass a background check and substance test.

* Must have own transportation

* Able to start work immediately
