Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Plans, designs and directs multiple and complex land surveying projects by performing the following duties.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



* Prepares and monitors project budgets. Working with the project manager, shares overall responsibility for the profitability of his/her projects.

* Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.

* Serves as senior project manager or senior project surveyor and as a designated client contact.

* Supervises and monitors client relationship strategies.

* Coordinates and approves pricing, estimating, scoping for proposed projects.

* Attends client and public meetings - days or nights.

* Responsible for control of work-in-process, ensures accurate client billings and monitors outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on his/her projects.

* Analyzes survey records and deed information for the determination of easement and parcel boundaries.

* Directs and supervises project team activities. May perform duties of a supervisor or department manager.

* Mentors and trains other staff, as needed.

* Handles contract administration.

* Provides supervision to CADD technicians and designers to produce working drawings.

* Visits construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents

* Uses computer assisted surveying and design software (e.g. CADD) and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.



QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in land surveying from an accredited four-year college or university, preferred, and a minimum of 10 years of experience or the equivalent thereof. Maintains competency in and serves as a major firm resource.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Registered Land Surveyor, preferably in the state of Maryland. Valid driver's license.



REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry and financial functions.
