Job Description

The Senior Critical Utilities Engineer will have responsibility for maintaining and improving utility operations at the site. This person is responsible for maintaining a firm understanding of the departmental daily operations as the point of contact for utility operational issues. Supports manufacturing, facility, and utility operations by effectively troubleshooting to root cause, developing and managing process improvements, own deviations, CAPAs and other QTS records.



The mission of the Utilities Team is to provide the site a constant flow of reliable, compliant utilities that ranges from the Qualified Utilities (PW, WFI, Clean Steam, Pharm Air, etc.) to the Non-Qualified Utilities (Steam, Compressed Air, Chilled Water).



The Qualified Utilities Engineer role functions as the "owner" and subject matter expert (SME) of generation and distribution systems for Validated Waters, Validated Gases along with other site Utilities. The Engineer will function as the customer project manager for capital projects that replace/upgrade these assets and systems. The Engineer will also function as the site focal point for projects that will impact the usage of the Qualified Utilities, entailing participation on project teams as necessary. The Senior Utilities engineer will lead ongoing utilities projects i.e. CROWN account projects. The CROWN account project has started in 2021 and is expected to complete by 2026 for site improvements on critical site utilities.



ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES



* Support capital projects team from conceptual phases through equipment installation, cGMP compliance, commissioning, validation and continuous improvement within budget constraints.

* Manages/oversees installation of new and upgrade of existing utility equipment used to produce and distribute; Water for Injection in high purity piping distribution systems, oil free compressed, air chilled water, high quality and plant steam systems, power distribution and all ancillary utility.

* Generate reports utilizing MS Project, budget tracking and timeline management tools.

* Identify and achieve cost reduction goals through engineering improvements and conceptual design development. Participate in utilities audits.



-Member of the Site Energy Team.



-Partner with site reliability group to ensure proactive maintenance best practices are employed on all critical utility assets. This would include PM task reviews, predictive maintenance technologies and lubrication best practices.



Develop industry 4.0 best in class projects for implementation at site critical utility systems to see in real time energy usage and equipment health using IIoT (internet of things).





BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline with 5+ years of Engineering or Maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical, FDA, or regulated industry utility's environment required, pharmaceutical is preferred.

* Master's Degree in an Engineering Discipline with 3+ years of Engineering or Maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical, FDA, or regulated industry utility's environment required, pharmaceutical is preferred.

* Must have the knowledge and skills to specify, install, start-up and validate sophisticated electrical / mechanical systems and facilities improvements.



-Should have a good understanding of cGMPs, engineering standards, validation guidelines, etc. necessary to manage projects in compliance with facility and regulatory requirements. Ability to effectively interface with the various organizations that consume utilities on the site
