Job Description

Sr. Validation Engineer

San Jose, CA

We are seeking a Sr. Validation Engineer for a direct-hire job opportunity with a leading client in San Jose, CA. In this role, the Sr. Validation Engineer will join a new product development team within the embedded control applications space to create methodologies that define and support the characterization of high speed serial interfaces in their next generation products.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Define and oversee the development of methodologies for silicon validation and characterization of high speed serial systems

* Develop plans and lead the characterization and silicon validation of SerDes and High speed serial interfaces such as PCIe

* Characterize a wide range of IP including Digital High speed Serial peripherals, PLLs, and FPGAs

* Perform firmware development for SOC characterization

* Correlate pre-silicon results with silicon measurements

* Characterize planning, specification and documentation

Required Qualifications:

* BSEE/CS with 8+ years of experience, MSEE/CS with 6 years of experience, or a PhD. EE/CS with 3 years of experience in product characterization or validation with emphasis on High speed peripherals.

Additional Qualifications:

* Hands-on experience in working in a laboratory environment, familiarity with using lab equipment such as logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, BERT scopes, function generators, compliance testing

* Hands-on experience with RTL coding

* 5+ years' experience using automated characterization flows to maximize use of equipment

* 5+ years' experience with at least one of the following: PCIe, CIPRI, XAUI, Interlaken, SGMII, 10G Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber Channel, MIPI, DisplayPort,

* 5+ years' experience working with at least 1 of the following languages: Java, Visual Basic, C/C++

* 3+ years' experience working with FPGA Architectures

* 3+ years' experience with board design

* 3+ years' experience in providing failure mode analysis and corrective actions.

* Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

* Strong analytical, problem-solving and debug skills.

* Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills

* Must have strong self-learning ability, leadership, and enjoy working in teams

* Familiarity with DDRx memory interfaces is a big plus.
