Job Description

Senior Production Planner

Position summary:

Responsible for leading the overall production planning and material acquisition process, the Senior Production Planner will initiate and maintain the Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) system to ensure the timely release of material and allocation of internal resources to support the most efficient build process across multiple revenue-producing activities.

Responsibilities and duties:

* Maintains and ensures the integrity of the Company's MRP system

* Creates review controls necessary to ensure the integrity of the Production Plan and PIN scheduling and procurement process.

* Develops plans that are reviewed and approved by the Senior Management team.

* Adjusts planning quantities as market or other conditions dictate.

* Produces the Master Production Schedule (MPS) of all items to be produced within the current planning horizon.

* Establishes work order release priorities ensuring optimal use of resources.

* Analyzes direct labor capacity versus needs.

* Analyzes actual versus target measures and provides input by performing root cause analysis and making appropriate recommendations.

* Interfaces with Purchasing to ensure required materials will be available when needed to release production orders according to schedule.

* Partners with Purchasing to evaluate global demand requirements to assess risks or capacity constraints and escalates appropriately to management.

* Develops inventory policy based on supply chain risk, and manages raw material levels to prevent production delays.

* Collaborates regularly with supply chain and production personnel

Education and qualification:

* 5+ years of relevant experience in forecasting, demand/inventory planning, and supply chain management in a manufacturing environment.

* Bachelor's degree with a Supply Chain focus, or degree in Operations Management.

* Strong written, verbal, and listening skills. Communicates effectively with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.

* Demonstrated ability to stay organized while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

* Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.

* Takes ownership of the end-to-end material planning process including demand planning, capacity planning, historical usage analysis, and sales forecasts.

* Must be able to create and implement inventory targets and allocation strategies to maximize inventory levels and turns.

* Must be able to establish and maintain detailed production schedules.

* Must be able to integrate innovative solutions that facilitate improvements in production and inventory planning strategies across multiple product lines.

* Knowledge of multi-level bills of material structuring required.

* Must have proven ability to manage and lead cross functional projects.

* Advanced software skills in ERP/MRP forecasting and planning systems.

* Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft office products required.

* Experience with Engineering Change Order (ECO) disposition, effectivity and production implementation.

* APICS certification a plus
