Job Description

The Test Technician is expected to perform calibration and Final ATP testing of optical sensors. This position operates in a semi-autonomous mode, so it is important to have a full-cycle level of understanding of the optical sensor ATP and calibration processes. The technician is also responsible for ensuring optical sensors successfully navigate through the ATP process to Finished Goods.

This position reports to the Production Area Manager.


* Responsible for performing diversified test operations to ensure the system level product meets specification

* Performs quality work checks to ensure the final product meets the quality standards per documentation provided

* Records and publishes accurate test results from data capture to the proper communication tools,as instructed by supervisors and lead

* Loads final configuration of software and firmware to systems for final build completion according to build plan

* Support the training of team members, per direction from supervisor

* Maintains a good working relationship with department colleagues and the supporting departments

* Maintains a safe and clean work area per 6s protocols, with an emphasis on safety

* Identifies and solves for root cause errors using critical thinking skills

* Interfaces with Area Manager and Final System Test Production Lead to understand prioritization of ATP calibration tasks and act accordingly

* Identifies and escalates any roadblocks to direct manager and lead in timely manner

* Collaborates with other functional groups involved in the Final ATP process to facilitates an even flow and transition of product and information from one group to another (examples: Vibration,Close & Seal, QC inspection)

* Documents actions, system serializations and production steps using Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

* Maintains information and collects data using computer software, as needed to ensure information collected is updated properly

* Other duties as assigned

Other Characteristics of Position:

* This position requires a firm understanding of the entire optical sensor ATP/Calibration testing process to ensure optical sensors transition through the ATP process to Finished Goods

* Ability to work with minimal supervision

* Flexibility is a characteristic that is beneficial for Final ATP technicians as procedures and methods of calibration change on a semi-regular basis

* Requires well-developed organizational, time management, and communication skills to ensure all assignments are complete on time

* Commitment to continuous improvement and learning new techniques and processes that directly translate to successful implementation of process improvement

* Teamwork within the Final ATP group is extremely important such that each individual team member is respected and encouraged to make their concerns and views known

* Self-motivation and initiative inclinations are instrumental, as this position operates in a semi-autonomous environment while following procedures, documents, and work instructions

Minimum Qualifications:

* High school diploma or equivalent required

* 3 to 5 years of experience in technical fields, with an emphasis on testing of electronic devices

Preferred Qualifications:

* Associates of Science, Bachelor of Science or similar certification is highly preferred

* Very good-to-excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Understanding and knowledge of advanced computer programs relating to data gathering, retention and imaging (Matlab, GUI operation, Microsoft suite, etc.)

* Strong desire to support the company's business goals
