What you'll be doing:
* Assisting in monitoring the waste water treatment systems to maintain permitted discharge requirements to the District (O.C.S.D) water waste plant.
* Control system with flow valves, PH and ORP meters, collects samples for lab analyses, reads meters and records daily activities within waste treatment and chemical storage areas.
* Inspects records, observes conditions, determine that systems are working effectively and communicate to supervisor any necessary maintenance and facility needs to assure continued effective operation.
* Understand why the treatment system, "environmentally", is vital to the welfare of the community.
* Attend yearly Hazard Communication classes and fully comprehend the HMIS System and MSDS's
* Complete OSHA 40-hour classes for Haz-Mat Safety and Spill Response.
* Clarifier Maintenance for continued efficiency of metal removal and flow rate
* Batch Treatment process chemistry for metal removal and Ph
* Operate Filter Press for dewatering sludge waste (F006) from PBR Treatment Systems
* Maintain RCRA and CA DTSC Haz-Waste regulatory compliance
* Utilization of some resources from other departments may be required to perform the job's functions
What you bring to the job:
* 1+ year RECENT experience in a related field.
* High School Diploma or equivalent (such as a GED)
* Ability to pass Background and Drug test
* Ability to be trained for use of Air Respirators
* Ability to wear full HAZMAT Suite
* Operate Forklift after attending "Forklift Safety" class
* Good oral and written communication skills (must speak, read, and write English)
* Knowledge of ability to use measuring instruments
