Firmware Validation Engineer

Our client, a leader in innovative connectivity solutions, is seeking a Firmware Validation Engineer to join their team. As a Firmware Validation Engineer, you will be part of the Software Platforms & Product department supporting the Firmware - Connectivity and Audio team. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Firmware Validation Engineer - Connectivity and Audio

Location: Foster City, CA

Pay Range: $100-$105/hour + Benefits

What's the Job?

• Execute manual feature validation including functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing for Audio and streaming features.
• Develop and expand test content, author new test cases, and maintain comprehensive test documentation.
• Identify untested or under-tested paths, systematically close coverage gaps, and monitor coverage health.
• Reproduce defects, analyze logs (Wireshark, DLT, ADB, HCI/Bluetooth traces, vehicle logs), and perform root cause analysis.
• Own first-line triage for field issues, reproduce problems in lab settings, and collaborate with support and firmware teams to resolve issues.

What's Needed?

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of hands-on validation/QA experience on firmware or embedded products.
• Proven experience in writing and executing test plans and managing defect lifecycles.
• Hands-on validation experience in connectivity domains such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE/5G, GNSS, or vehicle networking.
• Strong log triage and debugging skills, familiar with tools like Wireshark, DLT, ADB, and Linux/Ubuntu.
• Experience with Python scripting for automation and defect tracking in JIRA/Confluence within agile environments.
