Job Description

Under the general direction of the Airfield Supervisor, performs semi-skilled mechanical work of average difficulty and responsibility related to the maintenance and repair of automotive and related mechanical equipment. Incumbents possess knowledge and skill in the performance of mechanical tasks involving general repair, maintenance, and servicing of automotive and related equipment. Incumbent must be capable of exercising good judgement and individual, independent, initiative in handling routine work and special assignments. Work reviewed through reports, records and the actual performance of the automotive equipment. Performs other work as required.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Repairs, reconditions and performs preventative maintenance and service work on automotive and related equipment.
• Maintains and repairs various equipment, up to and including, but not limited to, universal joints, motor mounts, tune-ups and systems repairs (cooling and brakes).
• Performs emergency repairs in the field as necessary.
• Maintains records and reports, requests parts and materials, and requisitions tools and equipment as required for the efficient performance of assigned work.
• Completes necessary body repairs and paintwork on vehicles and equipment.
• Identify replacement parts using manuals and other reference materials.
• Perform diagnostics using electric diagnostic tools.
• Perform internet searches for equipment related parts, availability and repair techniques.
• Inputting information into computer databases.
• Drive equipment on airport ramps, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, and safety areas. Must communicate and follow radio directions from the control tower.
• Under stressful circumstances, assists airport staff during special events and emergencies involving aircraft or vehicle accidents, incidents, and severe weather conditions.
• Overtime as required.
• Performs fuel spill clean ups to protect the environment.
• Escorts contractors and vendors on the AOA as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency.
• Three (3) years of work experience in automotive repair/service work preferred.
• ASE Brake Certification.
• Must pass Airfield Ground Vehicle Operator’s Training (GVOT) within 180 days of employment.

BENEFITS
$15.00 per hour
Monday – Friday (0700 – 1530hrs) with overtime as required.

Paid Class B CDL testing and endorsement w/in 9 months from date of hire
