Job Description

Position Profile:

1) Cost estimating / project bidding (pre-sale) - support RFQS as follows:

* Develop timely project cost estimates in response to RFQs/leads; clarify customer specifications to determine scope of work, bills of materials, construction methodology, and estimated cost

* In concert with Regional Sales/Business Development, work with customer to clarify specifications and bid requirements.

* Estimate labor hours, material costs, and basic engineering design methodologies to develop project costing.

* Support regional sales with pricing recommendations on quotes

* Interface with customers as technical expert in assigned region; provide recommendations on configuration of potential projects (write specifications where possible); make joint customer visits as required to close on large/critical projects

* Conduct planning with assigned regional sales manager to maximize win rate / margins on quote projects

2) Electrical engineering design and projects management (post-sale)

* Develop accurate, complete, and timely electrical drawings; work with customer to clarify details and obtain approvals

* Develop detailed bill of materials and provide to procurement for fulfillment

* Provide guidance to mechanical engineering group on project mechanical design; obtain customer approval as required

* Follow standard engineering processes and timelines, including execution of Electrical Reviews (ERs), Pre-Project Reviews (PPRs) and post-project reviews where required

* Monitor manufacturing group during production phase; ensure form/fit/function meets customer specs

* Manage project timelines and customer during build process; ensure on-time delivery

* Ensure all projects meet IE quality standards plus all defined customer quality specifications

3) Commercial development

* Lead relationships at established IE accounts; take responsibility for driving penetration and market share at assigned accounts

* Support business development with customer visits to strategic customer targets, as agreed with GM and VP of Sales

* As agreed with GM, take responsibility for developing specific technical competencies for commercialization (for example, for Longwall Electrics; VFDs; Oil & Gas sector; modular buildings; etc)

4) Technical service and support

* Provide commissioning and field support on projects as required

* Respond to emergency service calls, in and out of assigned region, as required; trouble shoot problems



Requirements:

* Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or extensive industry operating experience

* Position requires 5+ years of electrical design and cost estimating in the electrical distribution industry

* Deep understanding of electrical distribution equipment, standards, and specifications

* Experience with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum, change orders, etc.

* Comfort with engineering software (AutoCAD, etc) and ERP systems in quote development

* Significant project / program management experience

* Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time
